SX is the range of entry-level speakers of the British manufacturer Cambridge Audio, and the SX-80 is the floor model. The construction is of the 2.5-way type, bass-reflex with the port facing the back. The tweeters have a silk dome and have a detailed and non-aggressive response on high frequencies. A special sponge is placed behind the diaphragm, the result being a reduction of unwanted reflections and an improved stereophonic image - wide and deep soundstage. The bass and mid speakers have membranes made of treated paper, and the magnets are optimized for a powerful and controlled bass response. The enclosures are made of MDF and are internally stiffened.
